In India students mostly intern during their college years. Although more and more opportunities are being provided for high school students, these are still not easily available. So be sure to also reach out to
family and friends to see if your child can get opportunities through personal contacts. Work your network to check if your contacts can offer something that is interesting, and get your child to talk to his seniors at school.
He could also consider volunteering in NGOs — while this may not be his future field of work, working as a volunteer can help him pick up important skills that he can use in the work world (check out our article
on Children and Community Service in this issue for more information).
And finally, if nothing else works out, dad’s office is always open to him provided his boss agrees!
