ParentEdge is a bi-monthly magazine for discerning Indian parents who would like to actively contribute to their children’s education, intellectual enrichment and stimulation. The magazine’s premise is that learning is a continuous process, and needs to happen both in and outside of school; thus parents have an important role to play in shaping their children’s interests and intellect.
Deepa, I hope your article will rouse people from their forced slumber – shutting their eyes to the problems of others. You are not alone in finding people insensitive. We see it daily. And you are right – not even in 100 years will things change significantly, because selfishness and indifference are so common, that it is pleasant surprise to find a few who behave differently. Those few (and you are one among them), will have to work extra hard to make a difference. God bless. Ignatius.

Beautifully expressed Deepa! I get overwhelmed with emotions when I see specially-abled or differently abled kids ( I am sorry I don’t prefer to use the word disability because I believe that these kids are way smarter than their peers, talk to them and you will know what I mean and I am sure as a mother of special needs daughter you would know what I am talking about). Deepa I would like to connect with you on a personal level and would to hear about your daughter more. If you don’t mind of course and in the meantime I would like to share your post with my readers!
thanks deepa for writing this, agree completely … yes hopefully the acceptance levels go up soon
