If I want the best from our child, what should I do? How can I find out what he/she does best or what he/she can do like a pro. Well, as per my knowledge there is no magic potion which can be taken to discover this. I personally feel that the answer to this question will help me to bring up my kids even better and tap their potential in the right direction. A parent’s role is very vital in this case as the child is dependent on his parent for guidance.
Do not wait for the child to grow up to find out his hidden talents. Every child is a genius for that matter, but always remember that even geniuses require training. The role of a parent is to just guide and nurture the already existing qualities of their child. Someone has rightly quoted “A baby’s brain is a terrible thing to waste”. It is better to get a cue of your child’s ability before it is too late and polish their skills accordingly. The following pointers can be used to discover and develop the hidden talent of our prized possessions- our kids of course.
Encourage: Encouragement plays wonders. Even if your child is just interested in drawing cartoon, persuade him to do it even better. Motivate them towards doing what they enjoy and what they do best.
Review and Record: Let your kids self explore and self learn. This will boost their inner talent and help you find out their creative capacity. Parents should review the different activities and make a record of their child’s day to day activities. This will also help parents to identify the uniqueness of the child. Accordingly the child can be trained in the desired field.
Help them focus: “Jack of all trades, master of none”, this saying can be understood to mean that the child should not be trained in four different things. It might result in him learning none of them perfectly. It is very important to teach the child to focus and train only on the abilities that interest them and which they are good at.
Instill confidence: A confident child will be able to give his best even if he lacks some traits of the field. Praise your child’s unique capabilities and motivate him to learn from his mistakes. If the child is praised appropriately, he will be more willing to take risks and bring out the best in him.
