My Experience as Student Editor of ParentEdge

Why ParentEdge is the best place to intern as opposed to other magazines is because you’re given freedom to explore and play around with your writing. There are no imposing guidelines and rules forcing you to change your writing style to fit an exact framework. Being able to write this way was an extremely liberating experience for me; as I was able to better understand my style of writing and the way my mind worked in terms of interpreting specific themes and topics.

The one invaluable skill I learned through this internship was effective communication. During interviews, it’s imperative to be prepared not only with questions, but also an idea of the way in which you intend to ask the question so that the answer you get is precise, crisp and useful. This skill has been enormously helpful in student life as well as personal communication as well.

Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a more fulfilling, educational and beneficial experience. The opportunity of being a Student Editor isn’t just one for those who want to become journalists and media professionals in the future, its an opportunity to help shape your character, pick up extremely handy work-life skills that will make you more employable in the future and help transform and showcase your potential on a platform like no other.

ParentEdge is a bi-monthly magazine for discerning Indian parents who would like to actively contribute to their children’s education, intellectual enrichment and stimulation. The magazine’s premise is that learning is a continuous process, and needs to happen both in and outside of school; thus parents have an important role to play in shaping their children’s interests and intellect.

Thank you Lasya. We love working with our bright and enthusaistic student interns as well, and I can safely say that we learn as much from them as they do from their experience!
