As you can see, this process will definitely lead you to the decision of whether this would be the right-fit school for you, but it will also provide you with the kinds of specific points that will lead to an amazing “Why Us” essay, where the application asks why you are applying to their school. That will be the Dimension part of the process, communicating to the school your reasons for applying and how you feel that you will make an impact as a member of their community. If, on the other hand, you do not find the elements that you had highlighted about yourself expressed in an interesting way in the college that you are researching, then this may be a very good reason NOT to apply to that school. You would then go back to your master list and substitute that school with one in the same category of difficulty to get into.

Challenge: Start today by making at least your column and identifying your own Depth. You should be targeting to do rigorous research on about 3-4 of your schools a week at least to stay on target!
