Holy Guacamole

No. Guacamole is not a type of ape or anything other than a food item, despite what the name sounds like! Guacamole is a tasty and healthy Mexican side dish that can be made by anyone who’s old enough to cut vegetables.

Guacamole tastes great as a dip and as a spread on your toast, burgers and rotis. Make a batch of guacamole and store it in an insulated food jar, so you are all set for a healthy side for your chips, fries or toast!


What you Need

  • 1 bag tortilla chips
  • One ripe avocado
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 2 sprigs coriander leaves, chopped fine
  • 1 lime
  • 1 spring onion, chopped fine
  • Salt to taste

What To Do

  • Cut the avocadoes open lengthwise
  • Remove the pits from the fruits and discard
  • Scoop out the avocado flesh with a spoon into a bowl
  • Add the diced tomato, coriander leaves and spring onions
  • Squeeze the juice of the lime into the bowl
  • Using a spoon or fork, mash everything in the bowl till you get a thick, green pasty mixture (children will love doing this!)
  • Add salt to taste
  • Serve on a plate with the tortilla chips for a delicious snack
