Sibling Harmony

Give Individual attention: Parents should shower each child with individual attention and make sure they take care of his individual needs. Let your child know that he is important to you regardless of the other siblings.

The following website http://www.supernanny.com/Advice/-/Parenting-Skills/Shared-Play-Technique.aspx  gives many more helpful tips on sustaining “Sibling Harmony”.

Having a sibling is a blessing.  It is like having a companion for life.  It is sad that many kids do not get to experience this joy of life.  Some of the most shared stories and tales are the ones that we have shared with our siblings. A sibling is the witness to many of our childhood and teenage exploits and feat. What’s more, they are the ones who know our weaknesses and strengths.  This famous quote says it all “Our brothers and sisters are there with us from the dawn of our personal stories to the inevitable dusk.”

ParentEdge is a bi-monthly magazine for discerning Indian parents who would like to actively contribute to their children’s education, intellectual enrichment and stimulation. The magazine’s premise is that learning is a continuous process, and needs to happen both in and outside of school; thus parents have an important role to play in shaping their children’s interests and intellect.

Good tips, Rashmi. Easier said than done, of course, but I do agree with the points you are making. The only time my kids are together is when they are up is arms against me!!
