The Diary of a Young Girl

Age Group: 13+ Years

Title – The Diary of a Young Girl

Author – Anne Frank

Publisher – Penguin

For those who would like to get a first-hand account of World War II experiences, ‘The Diary of a Young Girl’ is a must read. The book is an autobiographical account of Anne Frank’s experiences when she and her family hid from the Nazis in an attic. From this poignant and informative diary, we learn about how Jews were persecuted and the hardships that they had to go through during the Nazi regime. The last diary entry is dated August 1, 1944. Three days later, on August 4, all residents of the attic were arrested and sent to various concentration camps. Only Otto Frank, Anne’s father survived. Anne Frank’s diary is now a historical document; it provides us with interesting perspectives and tells us about life during wartime.
