Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace

This was the summer residence of Tipu Sultan till his death in the year 1799 during the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War. This magnificent structure was built entirely with French Rose wood and stands adorned with pillars, arches and balconies. There is also a small museum in the palace which is open to public.

Bangalore Palace

It was built by Rev. Garrett, who was the first Principal of the Central High School in Bangalore. Now owned by the current scion of the Mysore royal family, Srikanta Datta Narsimharaja Wadiyar, the palace has recently undergone a renovation.

Vidhana Soudha

It is the seat of the state legislature of Karnataka. It is an imposing building, constructed in a style sometimes described as Mysore Neo-Dravidian, and incorporates elements of Indo-Saracenic and Dravidian styles.

Government Museum

One of the oldest museums in India, it is now an Archaeological Museum and has a rare collection of archaeological and geological artifacts including old jewellery, sculpture, coins and inscriptions. The museum is also home to the Halmidi inscription, the earliest Kannada inscription ever found.

HAL Aerospace Museum

This is India’s first aerospace museum located at the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited premises. It showcases the growth of the Indian aviation industry and HAL for six decades.

Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum

Visvesvaraya Museum is not a ‘museum’ in its classical sense, because it has interactive exhibits unlike stationary models of a museum. It is more of a “Science Centre”. Each floor of this museum is dedicated to a scientific discipline.

Dodda Alada Mara

It is a giant Banyan tree located in the village of Ramohalli, approximately 60 kilometers west of the city of Bangalore. The tree covers three acres and is one of the largest of its kind. It is said to be at least 400 years old.

Bannerghatta National Park

This hilly place is home to one of the richest natural, zoological reserves in the state. The zoo, which is a major attraction in this area, also has a reptile park and a small theatre. Herbivore, tiger and bear safaris are other attractions.

Butterfly park

The country’s first Butterfly Park was established at the Bannerghatta Biological Park. It comprises a butterfly conservatory, museum and an audio-visual room. The butterfly conservatory has a polycarbonate roof and is a 10,000 sq ft circular enclosure, inside which the living environment has been carefully designed to support many species of butterflies.

Wonderla

The park features a wide variety of attractions including some rides, water rides, a musical fountain, laser shows and a virtual reality show. There are attractions specially designed for children, and these are gentle yet unusual like a kiddies free fall ride. Wonderla uses solar heated water for all its pools during winter.
