Yes, that really is the most important thing isn’t it? To reassure children that you won’t punish them for being honest and owning up to their mistakes? This reassurance can also bo of real importance when the children are older to prevent them from taking drastic measures because they feel that they will be punished or that ‘their life is over’ just for failing an exam or even getting into trouble with the law!
It’s really scary to read about teenage suicides and even though my daughter is still young, I have explained to her a few times that nothing is as important as life itself and that nothing is worth lying for or killing yourself over!
